Should I get Coolsculpting or Cavi-Lipo?

Coolsculpting or Cavi-Lipo? As you know from reading our blog, we have already looked at traditional liposuction and Laser Lipo as alternatives to Cavi-Lipo for achieving a slimmer you. In this post, we will look at Coolsculpting and how the facts you need to know about it versus Cavi-Lipo. Coolsculpting, much like its name sounds, is a body sculpting procedure that used “controlled cooling” to freeze those pesky fat cells that we all worry about. Like Cavi-Lipo, it is non-invasive and non-surgical, but uses a different technology to achieve fat elimination.

The Process

By way of explaining the technology without boring you to tears, here’s a quick 101-version of how both procedures ultimately work:

  • Cavi-Lipo zaps and liquefies fat cells, eliminating them through your lymphatic system, which happens post-treatment and over the next couple days.
  • Coolsculpting freezes fat cells, which effectively starts to kill the fat cells, thus making them collapse. Other cells then go cannibal-style on the dead cells, consuming them so they can be eliminated from the body.

So, at the end of the day, fat is permanently eliminated in both cases! Yay! But what else do you need to think about? Well, what about the procedure itself?

At West Hills Cavi Lipo, we offer a spa-like environment where you lie on a heated massage table and relax while the machine is run over your skin. No cutting, slicing or dicing to get that fat to disappear! During the treatment, you will hear a sound in your ears from the ultrasound, and there is no pain. The Coolsculpting machine is also non-invasive, so it is used on the top of your skin, but that is where the similarities end. Patients can expect to feel suction from the vacuum procedure, intense cold, and cramping-sensations as the treatment area becomes numb. You can’t freeze fat cells without it being cold, right? Post-treatment, there may be bruising or redness, which is understandable given that the machine itself uses suction. Otherwise, once both treatments have been completed, you can go back to your usual daily routine.

Where Cavi-Lipo Takes the Lead

Cavi-Lipo and Coolsculpting, as you can see, have many of the same positives. They’re both FDA-approved processes. They’re both non-surgical and non-invasive. But Cavi-Lipo has some benefits that made it our choice of procedure to offer:

  1. Coolsculpting is FDA-approved, just like Cavi-Lipo. Coolsculpting services are only FDA-Approved for five treatment areas (although we know those are the ones many people stress about) Abdomen, Love Handles, Double Chin, and Inner/Outer Thighs. Cavi-Lipo, by contrast, is effective on all those areas – plus more! Pretty much it comes down to this: if you’ve got fat there, Cavi-Lipo can treat it.
  2. Cavi-Lipo works – pretty much right away. There’s a bit of a delay with Coolsculpting to get those beach-body results that we all want . . . several days/weeks-worth of waiting to get optimal results. Conversely, our Cavi-Lipo clients have contacted us with a “thank you” note after waking up the day after a treatment to a visible difference in their shape.
  3. There’s a big cost difference. According to the Coolsculpting website, each treatment usually costs in excess of $500, and patients usually undergo multiple treatments. Cavi-Lipo is significantly more affordable per treatment, and packages enhance cost-savings.

We always recommend that our clients ask any questions they may have about Cavi-Lipo. You’re welcome to come in and see the machine or give us a call to ask before you start treatment. There’s plenty of before and after photos on our website, and our testimonials show the satisfaction level of our clients. We look forward to seeing you soon.
