Frequently asked Questions

Lymphatic Drainage Massage – Post-Surgical & General Wellness

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is lymphatic drainage massage?

Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique that encourages the natural flow of lymph fluid through the body. It helps reduce swelling, remove toxins, and support the immune system.

What does the lymphatic system do?

Your lymphatic system is part of your immune system. It helps remove waste, toxins, and excess fluid from your body. When it gets sluggish—due to surgery, illness, or inactivity—you may feel puffy, tired, or bloated.

What does a lymphatic massage feel like? Is it painful?

Not at all! It’s very gentle—more like light, slow strokes and soft pumping movements. Many clients say it’s calming and even fall asleep during the session. It should never be painful, even after surgery.

How long is a session?

Sessions are 45 minutes depending on the area being treated and your specific needs. Post-surgical treatments may be shorter or longer based on your healing progress.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No referral is necessary, but if you’re recovering from surgery, we always encourage you to check with your surgeon first.

Post-Surgical lymphatic Massage

How soon after surgery can I get a lymphatic massage?

Most surgeons recommend starting within 3-7 days post-op, once your incisions are closed or covered. Always follow your doctor’s advice and let us know what procedure you’ve had.

What surgeries is lymphatic massage good for?

It’s highly beneficial after:
    •    Liposuction
    •    Tummy tuck
    •    BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift)
    •    Facelift
    •    Breast augmentation or reduction
    •    Body contouring procedures

How many sessions will I need after surgery?

Everyone heals differently, but most clients benefit from a series of 6–12 sessions, starting a few days post-surgery and continuing for several weeks.

Will lymphatic massage affect my surgical results?

Yes—in a good way! It can help reduce swelling faster, prevent hard lumps (fibrosis), and help you feel more comfortable as your body heals. It also supports smoother, more even results.

Can I still get lymphatic massage if I have drains or sutures?

In many cases, yes—but with modifications. Please let us know ahead of time. We’ll work gently around these areas, or delay treatment if needed, based on your healing stage.

General Health & wellness lymphatic Massage

Do I need to be sick or recovering from surgery to get this massage?

Not at all! Many clients come in for regular lymphatic massage to support general wellness, reduce bloating, improve immunity, and feel more energized.

What are the signs that I might need a lymphatic massage?

You may benefit from it if you’re experiencing:
    •    Frequent bloating or puffiness
    •    Swelling in arms, legs, or face
    •    Brain fog or fatigue
    •    Low immunity
    •    Feeling “sluggish” or heavy

How often should I get lymphatic massage for general wellness?

For maintenance, once or twice a month is ideal. If you’re working on specific health goals (like reducing water retention or fatigue), we may recommend weekly sessions for a short time.

Can lymphatic massage help with cellulite or skin appearance?

Yes, it can! While not a “cellulite cure,” it may help reduce the appearance of dimpling, improve circulation, and promote healthier skin over time.
