Coolsculpting or Cavi-Lipo? As you know from reading our blog, we have already looked at traditional liposuction and Laser Lipo as alternatives to Cavi-Lipo for achieving a slimmer you. In this post, we will look at Coolsculpting and how the facts you need to know about it versus Cavi-Lipo. Coolsculpting, much like its name sounds, is a body sculpting procedure that used “controlled cooling” to freeze those pesky fat cells that we all worry about. Like Cavi-Lipo, it is non-invasive and non-surgical, but uses a different technology to achieve fat elimination.
The Process
By way of explaining the technology without boring you to tears, here’s a quick 101-version of how both procedures ultimately work:
So, at the end of the day, fat is permanently eliminated in both cases! Yay! But what else do you need to think about? Well, what about the procedure itself?
At West Hills Cavi Lipo, we offer a spa-like environment where you lie on a heated massage table and relax while the machine is run over your skin. No cutting, slicing or dicing to get that fat to disappear! During the treatment, you will hear a sound in your ears from the ultrasound, and there is no pain. The Coolsculpting machine is also non-invasive, so it is used on the top of your skin, but that is where the similarities end. Patients can expect to feel suction from the vacuum procedure, intense cold, and cramping-sensations as the treatment area becomes numb. You can’t freeze fat cells without it being cold, right? Post-treatment, there may be bruising or redness, which is understandable given that the machine itself uses suction. Otherwise, once both treatments have been completed, you can go back to your usual daily routine.
Where Cavi-Lipo Takes the Lead
Cavi-Lipo and Coolsculpting, as you can see, have many of the same positives. They’re both FDA-approved processes. They’re both non-surgical and non-invasive. But Cavi-Lipo has some benefits that made it our choice of procedure to offer:
We always recommend that our clients ask any questions they may have about Cavi-Lipo. You’re welcome to come in and see the machine or give us a call to ask before you start treatment. There’s plenty of before and after photos on our website, and our testimonials show the satisfaction level of our clients. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Since we know many of our readers are always curious about treatments to make themselves look even more beautiful and fit, we thought we’d take a look at Cavi-Lipo and Laser Lipo, both of which are body contouring procedures, but they have very different processes (in case you missed our Cavi-Lipo vs. liposuction blog post, you can check it out here).
Cavi-Lipo | Laser Lipo | |
Fancy Term for the process: | Ultrasound cavitation | Micro-laser technology |
Treatment length? | Under an hour – including a lymphatic massage to assist with drainage | Several hours – account for anesthesia, the procedure itself, and recovery time |
Anesthesia? | No | Yes |
Invasive? | No – the Cavi-Lipo machine is used on the outside of your body | Yes – small incisions are made, but shouldn’t leave scars |
What happens during the treatment? | The Cavi-Lipo machine is run across the targeted area and uses ultrasound waves to zap your fat cells, liquefying the fat and destroying the fat cell. The liquefied fat is removed via the lymphatic system and ultimately exits your body when you urinate. | A tube with a laser is it is inserted under your skin and in between the layers of fat. The laser liquefies the fat, which is suctioned out of the tube. |
What happens after my treatment? | There’s no down time – you can go right back to work or go about the rest of your day. | Someone will need to pick you up since you may be a little woozy from the pain meds. |
What pain will I have? | None. You could have some reddening of the skin, worst case scenario | You may have bruising, swelling and be sore. |
When will I see results? | You should notice a difference immediately, but it may take 48 hours to really say wow! | You will have loose skin where fat has been removed, but your skin will return to “nearly” the stage it was at before you had the procedure. More results will come in 6-8 weeks as your skin gets tighter. |
Is it expensive? | Depending on the area that you are working on, the number of treatments required can vary. Even 7-10 Cavi treatments generally cost less than most body contouring procedures. | You should probably only need one treatment but it’s going to be pricey . . . plastic surgeon pricey, perhaps. |
